Triptych Of Grace

In the past month I’ve been writing energetically (raving?) about the economic crisis and the presidential race. They matter a lot to me. But I think it’s our deep inner lives, the lives of our souls, that guide us into wisdom, joy and what I term the diamond-cut life.creek bridge

A few weeks ago I was at a lovely old inn in a rural area, fatigued from my day, at that in-between time between sunset and full night. I wandered away from the buildings, approached a foot-bridge leading across a creek and suddenly I was swept into a portal to a different place. My body vibrated with bright energy, my spirit soared and I was flooded with the love of God. The thing that had been troubling me was transformed into an extension of that love. I prayed aloud in happy response and walked slowly across the bridge.

At the writing workshop I just attended at Opal Creek Ancient Forest I wrote this haiku about that mystical experience. I offer it to encourage all of us to steadily connect with the natural world and our inner lives. We need soul-nourishment and a sense of belonging as we navigate in this fast-paced, complex culture.
