I’m looking to hire a dance partner/instructor here in Portland, Oregon (modern dance and social dance) to choreograph and practice a couple of numbers with me and then perform together at my party. I’m reliable, fun to work with and a fairly good dancer. Background: I love to sing, dance and entertain people. I’ve been dancing and singing in various ways throughout most of my life. Perhaps the best night of my life was my 40th birthday in November 2000, when about 60 friends and family joined me at Edgefield for a concert party. I hired a band to back me up, and a dance/comedy partner, and while my performance certainly wasn’t flawless, I had a blast, and I think we all did. I involved the audience in every way I could, and the concert party was an exercise for me in community-building as well as a chance to perform.

We met at Vicki’s yesterday. Re: dancing and singing next November, several ideas come to mind. I sing with an awesome new chorus, the Portland Peace Choir and our director, Marion Van Namen, is fantastic… and plays African drums, also teaches drumming and has dance/music parties at her home. Alisa Looney, an improvisational dancer I know, has choreographed some outdoor performances; she and I have both taken classes with Susan Banyas.
