A Shout-Out For Senator Biden

October 3rd, 2008 by Alison · No Comments · energy, politics

Governor Palin is quick-tongued, chock-full of energy, waaaay cute. Cuter than Senator Biden.

I couldn’t take my eyes off her in last night’s debate, despite her refusal to answer questions that would have taken her off her script. Despite her belief that a relatively miniscule amount of oil in Alaska makes her an energy expert and will move the U.S. toward energy independence.

I was charmed by her, despite her uncertainty that human activity is causing global warming. Despite her eagerness to expand the powers of the vice presidency — on the heels of Dick Cheney’s aggressive brand of unconstitutional vice presidency. Despite her pallid defense of Senator McCain’s pathetic health insurance plan.

I’m not being sarcastic: I enjoyed Governor Palin tremendously last night. She was entertaining as all get-out. But vote for her? Darn right that I won’t. We need leadership, not entertainment. We need a real change in direction, not a guy and gal from the GOP trying to pose as mavericks, like this is some kind of Wild West movie. This is real life, and McCain and Palin do NOT represent real change.

When my friend Mike said, “I’d rather make out with Palin than with Biden, ” I said cheerfully, “I think I would, too,” (and I’m even straight). I am voting for Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Biden was real last night. Informed. Experienced. Biden answered the questions and drilled down into the facts. Cute? Nah. But I can live with that. I’m shouting out for the Democratic ticket.
